What is Yoti?
To stay compliant with international law, we use age-verification services to confirm users are over 18, if they are visiting from in locations that legally require verifications. This process is free for our users. Here are some details about the services we've signed on to.
Yoti
To get age-verified, you’ll click a link that takes you to the Yoti website. You'll scan their QR code with your phone and download the Yoti app. You'll upload a photo ID and face scan to the app. Once that process is complete, you will be brought back to this site, and restrictions will be lifted.
For fraud prevention and legal reasons, Yoti does keep your ID and photo on file until you delete the account (or after 3 years of inactivity). None of the info you send to Yoti is ever shared with us—we only receive confirmation that you’re over 18.
Veriff
To get age-verified, you’ll click a link that takes you to the Veriff website. No app required. You'll scan their QR code with your phone or computer camera, or have them send text you a link, both of which take you to the signup process. You'll upload a photo ID and face scan. Once that process is complete, you will be brought back to this site, and restrictions will be lifted.
For fraud prevention and legal reasons, Yoti does keep your ID and photo on file until you delete the account (or after 3 years of inactivity). None of the info you send to Yoti is ever shared with us—we only receive confirmation that you’re over 18.
If you have a profile here, this site will remember your verified status so you won’t ever need to do this process again. Without a profile, you might need to re-verify through your preferred service occasionally, but you won’t have to go through their signup process again.
For fraud prevention and legal reasons, Veriff does keep your ID and photo on file until you delete the account (or after 3 years of inactivity). Veriff does share your phone number, real name, and address with us, but all of this information is rejected, and never stored, logged, or backed up.
Unfortunately, if you don't have a government ID, you won't be able to get age-verified for this site. Checking the physical ID (as opposed to technology such as AI age estimation) is the requirement for most governments.
We pay for each successful verification, but do not receive compensation in any way from our age check services.
Age verification is separate from producer verification (our green checkmark), and to upload adult content you still must be producer-verified.
